‘Shameless’ season 6, episode 1 video: First look at the premiere!

“Shameless” season 6 is going to be coming your way starting January 10, and there’s no need in waiting any longer to get a first look! The promo below does a good job setting up what is going to be a more-than-eventful year for Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy, and really the rest of the cast as they all prepare to see where the Gallagher can goes from here.

The biggest reveal from the promo may be the return of Sasha Alexander once more as Lip’s teacher-turned-lover, but their relationship is hardly what it was thanks to a key reveal. Meanwhile, Frank is in mourning still following the death of who he believes to be the love of his life, and Fiona continues to have many of the same relationship troubles that she once did.

What we’d say for the show as a whole right now is that the best thing that they can really do is get away from as many of the stories from the past season as possible rather quickly. Lip’s relationship is polarizing, as is Fiona’s current status. We’d like to see the story dive a little bit more into what makes some of these people tick, and if there is more of a reason for them to have hope for the future rather than strictly being dysfunctional.

One thing to remember here, after all, is that this is the sixth season of the show. We’re at least moving towards an end now even if it is not this season, and some decisions have to be made with this in mind.
