‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3: Is there a chance for Ward to be redeemed?

Ward -Is Grant Ward redeemable? There are many “Agents of SHIELD” fans who have wanted to see the good in him ever since the whole HYDRA story started to spiral out of control. However, it’s been hard to keep that going, and it may be even harder now that he is seemingly dead at Coulson’s hand. Sure, he is back around thanks to his possession-of-sorts, but is he even Grant Ward anymore? Is he more of the monster than anything else?

In looking ahead to the show’s return in March, executive producer Jed Whedon continues to play coy about Ward’s future, but he did offer this interesting insight to Entertainment Weekly:

“While he’s done terrible things, you have to want to be forgiven to be forgiven … I don’t know if that’s something he wants. By the same token, our team, their hands are dirtier than they’ve ever been.

“The thing that’s so fun to me is that people are still talking about it … Some of his actions at the end of this first half of the season, I can’t imagine how people still think that he’s going to be redeemed, but the fact that they’re still talking about it, that makes me super happy. We are such fans of his character and of Brett’s portrayal of it. We love the debate. We can’t believe it’s still going.”

Whedon also wouldn’t rule out something happening between Ward and Daisy Johnson in the future, either. There is a contingent of ‘shippers out there of these two, and he is quick to point out that while he has changed since the beginning of the show, so has she. She’s hardly Skye anymore.
