‘The Blacklist’ season 3 spoilers: First details on ‘The Director: Conclusion’

The Blacklist logo any seasonWhen “The Blacklist” returns to NBC on Thursday, January 6, it will be doing so with the first part of their story of “The Director.” We will see what happens immediately after Liz Keen’s arrest, and whether or not either the Task Force or Reddington will be able to protect her from the threat coming her way courtesy of the Cabal.

We always new that this was meant to be a two-part episode, and we can say firmly now that by the time we get around to “The Director: Conclusion,” the story will be escalated and lives will hang in the balance. The synopsis below teases that and so much more:

“As The Cabal prepares to assassinate Liz (Megan Boone), Red (James Spader) calls upon the task force to combine efforts to outmaneuver The Cabal to exonerate her. Red delivers a final ultimatum.”

We would be willing to wager here that in one form or another, this episode is going to mark some sort of significant turning point for the series. By the time we get around to the end of the two installments, we’ll start to understand more of what the new normal is for this show, and if we could see things start to settle in to more of a rhythm. We will add in here, though, that we are more than fine if it continues to be a little bit nutty and unpredictable, mostly because this has shown itself to be so far the strongest overall season in terms of twists, turns, and major story developments.
