‘Supergirl’ winter finale reaction: How Blake Jenner’s upcoming arc factors in

Kara -

Tonight on “Supergirl,” we heard the words “Adam Foster” factor into the equation for the first time … and let’s just say that they are going to pay off in a big way when we roll around to the second part of the season.

Remember the casting news about Blake Jenner joining his real-life wife Melissa Benoist on the show? Well, Blake is playing the part of Cat Grant’s secret son, and he will reportedly be some sort of love interest for Kara. His premise we imagine could complicate things, given that Cat holds some regret over him, and she also now knows seemingly the truth about her assistant actually being Supergirl in disguise.

Based on what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a postmortem on the finale to Entertainment Weekly, we’re going to have a chance to get some more information on Adam Foster in the weeks ahead:

“We didn’t introduce the idea of Cat’s other son without a plan to introduce him. We’ll be meeting him in the very near future.”

As for what will make this even more complicated (crazy as that may seem), James encouraged Winn tonight to tell Kara how he feels. He has not done it yet, but this could be the beginning of another plotline that makes things even more difficult on Jeremy Jordan’s character. We’re not sure if this will really be touched on in full during the first season, but we also don’t think that romance is the show’s top priority, either (even if it does turn up from time to time).
