‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Is Mimi aware of Camilla’s intentions?

So far, “Empire” season 2 has definitely made a name for itself thanks to its way array of twists and turns, and we don’t see that changing at any point in the near future. It’s a show that thrives on the water-cooler moment and giving people something to passionately discuss.

For the recent finale, that something just so happens to be Mimi Whiteman overtaking Lucious Lyon as the head of Empire Entertainment before handing most of the day-to-day duties off to her wife Camilla. Given what we know about Naomi Campbell’s character and her history with Hakeem, is this a bad move? Is Camilla out for revenge? This may not be something that Mimi has on her mind right now, but is a rather unavoidable subject of conversation for us.

In discussing this matter further in a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Ilene Chaiken had the following message to pass along:

“Mimi — in the way that incredibly rich, powerful people sometimes can — believes that there’s nothing better than her. And Camilla has convinced Mimi this is not about her wanting to be back with Hakeem or anything else. It’s about payback for Lucious. Whether or not that’s true, though, remains to be seen.”

Hopefully by the time we make it a few episodes into the rest of this season (the series returns on March 30), we’ll start to not only understand her endgame more, but figure out just what the show’s producers want to see happen for the entire Lyon family.
