‘Arrow’ season 4, episode 10 promo really plays with ‘is Felicity dead?’ rumors

OliverAfter tonight’s “Arrow” winter finale really tried to paint the picture of Felicity Smoak being dead in a brutal Christmastime shooting, the promo for the January 20 return of the show almost enters full-on trolling mode. The CW is somewhat infamous at this point for releasing misleading trailers for this show, but this one easily takes the cake.

After watching this, it’s pretty understandable that you would think that Felicity had been killed. The promo edits in some of Oliver’s comments in the infamous graveside flash-forward into some footage of her being rushed to the hospital, and then at the end, he is standing in front of a grave. It all looks bad, but given that you never saw the name on the front of the grave we are 99% confident that this is misleading.

For one, we cannot imagine “Arrow” getting rid of Oliver’s new fiancee right after he started to lie to her about having a son out there; that’s something that even now, he is not bothering to tell her for some reason. Also, can you imagine the revolts from the Olicity ‘shippers? We do think that the show needs to restore some of the fun into the relationship that it had through the first couple of seasons, but that’s the only change we would recommend for it.

As for who are actual candidates to die, we’re worried more about people like Quentin Lance, Thea Queen, Donna Smoak, and even Oliver’s family over in Central City. He cares for all of them, and this could be Damien’s way (if he can learn about all of this) at finding new methods to strike at Oliver’s heart. One part of this that continues to be so interesting is that he still doesn’t know that Oliver is the Green Arrow. An assist from Malcolm Merlyn tonight helped to preserve that further.
