‘Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance’ top 7 rankings: It’s a little messy

Kelley -

We never want to say in the moment whether or not a season of “Survivor” is one of the best in recent memory, but this one is at least reasonably high on the list in terms of great characters, strategy, and surprises. Getting rid of Joe last week was probably the weakest elimination in some time, mostly because it was predictable. However, having him gone now means that we’ve got even more uncertainty moving into the final weeks.

As always, we’re basing these rankings not only on who will make it past the next tribal council, but also who has an actual show to win the show in the end. Strategy is an essential component here, as are challenge performances, social game, and edit.

7. Abi-Maria Gomes (last week: 8) – Let’s make it clear that we’re thrilled that Abi is a part of this season. She’s entertaining, controversial, and she gives the show an air of unpredictability. However, she’s not great in challenges, she’s a threat in that she could take a spot from another finalist, and she has almost no chance to win.

6. Keith Nale (7) – We still have no idea just what in the world Keith is doing in this game. He’s not making enemies, but he’s also not making moves and he’s getting the sort of edit of someone who could go out on this upcoming episode. Remember here that he’s a serious challenge threat, and that could make him a target. Even if he makes it to the end, it’s hard to imagine him winning.

5. Kimmi Kappenberg (6) – Kimmi has made a move in talking about a women’s alliance, but is it too late? We think that she’s playing hard and we appreciate that, but we still don’t see her winning in the end against anyone ranked higher than her. She’s also a threat to get votes because of her story and her family.

4. Spencer Bledsoe (1) – Spencer’s great spot in the game is just about gone now for a number of different reasons, with the biggest one being the proposed women’s alliance. The next is Jeremy having an immunity idol still. If Jeremy makes it clear that he has this or if he wins immunity, Spencer’s the biggest target left.

3. Jeremy Collins (3) – Jeremy’s idol is the only reason he is ranked this high. With Joe gone, he is also in a position now where he could try to use the idol once and then try his best to go on a challenge run. We haven’t seen the resume that suggests he can do it, but he’s capable of it physically.

2. Tasha Fox (4) – In terms of placement, nobody’s in a better spot than Tasha. She can go with the guys or the women. Our thinking for her this coming episode is pretty simple: She goes with the women and votes out Keith, someone she’s not really close to and someone who just voted against her. From here, she could consider some of her options again.

1. Kelley Wentworth (2) – Wentworth’s had some struggles in this game (being isolated somewhat from the merge), but she’s never gotten frustrated. She’s kept her options open, and as a result of that is now in a spot where she has a great chance of getting to the end (remember her idol) and then winning. Maybe she’d have trouble against Jeremy or Spencer, but she could probably take everyone else easily.
