‘Shark Tank’ preview: Trunkster, Sarah Oliver Handbags, Leaux Trikes, Glow Recipe, Happy Feet

Shark Tank -Friday night’s “Shark Tank” is just about here, and with that we’re getting an episode that is relatively varied in substance. You’ve got beauty products, handbags, trikes, and luggage all within the span of an hour. It may not be the most diverse that we’ve ever seen, but what is interesting about this lineup is that many of them seem perfect for Lori Greiner one way or the other. They could be best off being sold in an infomercial, or somewhere that their specific gifts are shown off.

Here’s the specific synopsis for the hour:

“An entrepreneur from Mill Valley, CA uses an unique labor force to create her product; the sharks go on a crazy ride when a college student from San Diego, CA brings a grown up version of a favorite childhood toy; and beauty industry experts from New York City bring innovations from the secret epicenter of beauty. Also, an update on Happy Feet, the whimsical plush slippers designed by Pat Yates from Goshen, KY, that Robert Herjavec invested in during Season 5.”

Before continuing, a quick shout-out to Shark Tank Blog for uncovering one of the products below we couldn’t find beforehand.

Glow Recipe – A line of beauty products based on Korean techniques and items. We’re not even going to pretend that we are particularly knowledgeable in this realm, but we know that with these lines, much of it is based on what your prowess is at getting the word out there. There could be a specific market here with the Korean-American community that is untapped, so we’ll give them more of a chance than the standard “Shark Tank” beauty product.

Sarah Oliver Handbags – We certainly love the idea of a line of handbags knitted together be eager and excited senior citizens. With that being said, we wonder if the name is really flashy enough to show off the skills of the knitters, just as we also worry about whether or not this business is investible. There is a certain amount of charm that comes in just having this be a small project versus a big corporation, since that makes the product all the more special.

Leaux Racing Trikes – This is the one that we couldn’t find anywhere. It does look fun to ride around in what is an adult-sized version of a childhood plaything, but is it altogether practical? This seems perfect for many some bicycle paths, but other than that we’re not sure about the market size here.

Trunkster – It is zipperless luggage that has a variety of valuable / interesting uses. It comes with a removable battery, a USB port, and also a digital scale. This is one of the coolest travel innovations we’ve seen, and it was funded successfully on Kickstarter. Will “Shark Tank” push them to the next level? If nothing else, it could get them a heck of a lot of attention leading into the holiday season.
