Is ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 9 new tonight on ABC?

“Castle” season 8 had certainly a controversial run on ABC over the course of the past several months, in between the downfall of the Castle – Beckett relationship and the eventual reconciliation during the fall finale.

However, we do come today bearing bad news: The network didn’t just suddenly decide to give us a bonus episode. There is no installment airing on ABC tonight, and there will not be a new one now until February 1 when the show returns at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time with “Tone Death.” We haven’t spoken much about this episode, but at the same time there is not much of a reason to when you think about it. All we have in the promo below is a tiny snippet.

However, we can tell you that this episode is going to dive into the world of competitive singing, and here’s to hoping that this ends up being as random and/or as entertaining as we hope that it looks on the surface. The traditional “Castle” case is back! Now, let’s just hope that it somehow figures out a way to live up to expectations of the show that we remember.

We’re give you some more information on the show during that hiatus, including hopefully some more details about the story for this installment. Our guess, though, is that there will probably not be an official synopsis for this episode until January. As for when the primary storyline of the season will kick back into gear, hopefully you won’t be waiting long after February 1 given that we will already be in sweeps.
