Ratings: ‘Shark Tank’ increases while ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘Reign’ season 3 drop
When you look at the overall ratings for Friday night’s TV lineup, one thing becomes clear: This is one of the first real doldrums of the fall season. Nothing that exciting is happening, we already know the shows that are staying and the ones that are going, and we also have a good sense at this point as to what shows need to up their game in the second half of the season.
The winners – The good news for “Shark Tank” is that it continues to reign supreme in the 18-49 demographic. While its 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic is down from where we’ve seen the show in years past, this has been a somewhat-weaker season for the show as a whole. There’s probably been too much of a focus on guest Sharks and not enough on great products.
Also, Friday brought us the best rating for “Undateable Live” (0.8) that we’ve seen in several episodes, and it comes after the planned episode of last week did not take place following the attacks in France. There wasn’t too much else worth noting other than shows like “Last Man Standing” and “Dr. Ken” staying reasonably steady with 1.2 ratings.
Update: Quick note from Chris Luccy about the “Undateable” ratings.
The losers – It may be strange to call “20/20” a loser for improving versus last week with a 1.4, but the truth here is that they had Donald Trump on the show! The man, known for calling everyone under the sun a loser, failed to really do much to actually change the narrative of the show numbers-wise. Maybe his status as a ratings magnet is starting to decline following his “Saturday Night Live” appearance.
Elsewhere, “Blue Bloods” dropped down to a 1.1 rating (which is still solid for them), and for the first episode without Francis, “Reign” dropped to a 0.3

A 1.1 is solid for Blue Bloods? Really? I need to look at its ratings more closely. How can someone say a show with ratings as pathetic as MOL as solid? It’s a better show than MOL(no doubt about that.) Maybe that’s a show MOL can go head to head with.
