‘The Blacklist’ season 3, episode 9 spoilers: More details on ‘The Director (Pt. 1)’

Are you still recovering from the fall finale of “The Blacklist” on NBC right now? If you answer this question with a “yes,” who can really blame you at the moment? There was a lot of crazy stuff that happened over the course of that hour, and we’re not just talking about Liz finally being brought in by Ressler. You also have one shocking death, Ressler getting in the mood to fire people, and more signs that being behind bars (at least metaphorically) is going to do Megan Boone’s character way more harm than good.

While you still have to wait until January 7 to see the return of the show with “The Director (Pt. 1),” the short synopsis below via SpoilerTV offers up a little more insight into what is going to be coming up:

“While Red creates a crime scene to retrieve his care package, friends of the truth rally around Liz, whose life is in grave danger now that she’s in custody. Christine Lahti and David Strathairn guest star.”

Can we just take a minute to celebrate how great it is that the show managed to get Strathairn for this role? Like with Alan Alda, this show really has a knack for getting some particularly accomplished people for complex, interesting roles. While you’re familiar with them, it never feels like they are just desperately seeking guest stars, either. That can be a tough balance, but we appreciate them recognizing character actors and their skill first and foremost.
