Crossover November: Could a ‘Bones’ season 11, ‘Castle’ season 8 pairing work?
Earlier this season, “Bones” season 11 did something that we never imagined that they were going to do: Cross over with “Sleepy Hollow” for what proved to be a heck of an exciting, action-packed crossover event that was far more fun than we imagined that it would be going in. It also at least generated a little bit of publicity (and not to mention slightly better ratings) for the show.
So as a result of that, couldn’t “Bones” benefit now from pairing up with another fun crime-solving pair in Castle and Beckett of “Castle” fame? This is what our latest entry in our Crossover November series is all about!
The case for a crossover – As we mentioned, ratings! Both shows have an uncertain future at the moment, and given the fact that it would be a cross-network event, it would probably generate even more attention. This is something that works logically, tonally, and probably could even when it comes to the story. Beckett already has a history in Washington DC, and some of that has surfaced so far this season. Why not revisit that and bring Booth and Brennan into the fold? They possess unique skills that are different than anyone in the “Castle” universe.
As for how Booth and Brennan could use Rick and Kate, they know New York like the back of their hand, and Beckett’s crime-solving skills alongside Rick’s propensity for finding clues and using his fame could make all of them a winning combination.
The case against a crossover – As we mentioned, networks make it almost impossible to happen. ABC and Fox probably have no interest trying to help one other, even if it would be fun to see. They may see the two shows joining forces as taking viewers away from some of their own programming that airs in competitive timeslots. Also, maybe there’s just not a good reason for them … or enough time left in the season, given that this is the sort of thing that takes months of planning.
