‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 6 reaction: Blair Underwood on big reveal
We don’t necessarily think that “Agents of SHIELD” is a show that really prioritizes the “shocking” moment more so than anything else, but on Tuesday night, they did deliver one of the biggest jaw-droppers of the entire series so far courtesy of one simple reveal: Lash is none other than Andrew. Just when it seemed that he was a psychologist and a resource for SHIELD, he also happens to be one of the biggest threats for Inhumans and humans alike.
Blair Underwood seems to be having the time of his life knowing that his alter ego is none other than this character. In speaking to E! News about the big reveal, he admitted that some people were starting to figure out his secret prior to the big episode with Fitz and Simmons last week:
“I have to say, I am shocked that after that last episode aired two weeks [ago], all my friends started sending me all this “#AndrewIsLash” and all the theories of why Andrew could be Lash and how spot-on some of them were … But, if you look at his work as a psychologist…in S.H.I.E.L.D., he determines [who] is worthy and is not worthy to be part of the Secret Warriors team that he’s to create with Coulson. So, it makes sense that it’s kind of that same kind of rationale, but on steroids: Who’s worthy and who’s not? And what are they worthy of? Are they worthy of life? Are they worthy of death? Are they worthy of the team? Or are they not worthy of anything?”
Underwood promised that over the coming weeks, you will start to get some further information about how he ended up becoming this character, some of his motives, and also potentially how some other characters could react if they start to become suspicious.
