‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Are we heading to the underworld?
While the first half of “Once Upon a Time” this season is exploring Camelot and the Dark One mythology like never before, is it possible that we could be going to a particularly darker place for the second half? Early signs seem to be pointing in that direction.
According to a new report from TVLine, the show is in the process of casting a particularly notable character who is known only as “Distinguished Gentleman,” and is described as almost being “god-like” in his character description. Early suggestions lead some out there to think that the show could be heading to an underworld for the second half of this season, which goes along with claims from co-creator Edward Kitsis that “hell” will be a theme of the spring episodes.
If this is the direction that the show is going in, is it a wise move? We’re interested in part to see what the show’s interpretation on such a world could be, though we do wonder whether or not diving into this universe could be too scary for some younger viewers. Also, the underworld is certainly a place that has been described aplenty in a variety of other places, mostly notably on “Supernatural” over the years.
Who knows? Maybe this “Distinguished Gentleman” really is not that tied to this world at all, but it may take us a little bit of time to find out. After all, we’re still in the first half of season 5, and 5B will not premiere until the spring.
