‘Shiptober: Will ‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 change the game for Belle, Rumpelstiltskin?
While there have been many couples on this show who have seen happy moments and successful relationships, these two just haven’t found a way to put it all together. While at times it’s looked like they were set to be in each other’s lives forever, there have also been many moments where we wondered whether or not they would even make it through an episode or two alive. Rumple has always thirsted for power and something more than what he’s been able to give Belle, and she has never been the top priority just as his own son Baelfire was not.
As for whether or not this is going to change moving forward into the rest of season 5, this is what our latest edition of our CarterMatt ‘Shiptober series is all about.
The case for Belle and Rumpelstiltskin being together – There are a pretty wide array of reasons to love this couple, but the biggest one is just that when things are good between the two, the passion here is better than almost any TV couple. Everyone loves to root for the unexpected, and for the people who don’t seem like they would work we;; together. These two are certainly the underdogs more so than any other pair on this show and after everything they’ve been through, it would be nice to see them have a bit of happiness.
Also, another reason you should want to root for the two of them to get together is because they now may be in a position where they could actually be a normal couple for once. For the longest time, the biggest issue with Rumple is simply that he did not have the full capacity of his emotions thanks to him being the Dark One and now that has been passed on and he is free to be himself.
The case against Rumbelle – The biggest question that you have to wonder if you are Belle is if this a man is fully capable of changing. Was he controlled fully by the Dark One, and was that what made him constantly lie to her and trick her or is he really like this deep inside? Will he be different now that he is no longer controlled by it? There may be a point where he is simply too far gone, and that is probably one of the reasons why there was a short-lived romance with Belle and Will on the show last season. Sooner or later, there does have to be a tipping point for Belle to move on with her life. It’s possible that at this point, we may have already hit it.
