‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3 spoilers: Clark Gregg teases possible ‘Civil War’ connections

Coulson -The third season of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” is underway, and in between rescuing Simmons and also the foundation of the Secret Warriors story, we feel like you can say easily that this is a series that has a lot on its plate … and even more could be coming in the near future.

Anytime you are looking at a Marvel series, crossovers are something that has to be top of mind. Just look at how “Agents of SHIELD” had a game-changer thanks to the events of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” There are a lot of logistical issues that are present with having the show be reactionary to the movies (mostly in that it forces ABC to follow a strict time frame), we do feel like the die-hard fans do appreciate this.

Clark Gregg is someone who has to love these crossovers more than anyone given that he’s involved in just about everything. He has parts if the movies often, and is of course a regular on the TV show. While he could not say anything for-certain about the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” playing a big part in “Agents of SHIELD” season 3, he did give a broad-strokes statement on the matter in which the writers handle this series to Entertainment Weekly:

“That’s one of the things I love about our show. The writers are fearless about trashing the whole thing … It kind of reinvents itself every season. Now what’s going on is the global outbreak of Terragenesis, people turning into Inhumans. Coulson’s team is very much about finding these poeple and taking care of them in one way and in the other make sure they’re not that particular kind of Inhuman that’s a threat. That seems to be making what we thought was the number one priority, building Secret Warriors, a bit on the back-burner for the moment.”
