‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Natalie Dormer speculates on Margaery’s endgame

Margaery -

While the majority of the “Game of Thrones” cast is at the moment still working on season 6, a few actors in Natalie Dormer (Margaery), Finn Jones (Loras), and Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara Sand) all made appearances this week at New York Comic-Con to talk about the HBO product. As you would expect, there was one subject that everyone wanted to know, and that was the subject nobody could talk about: What is coming for season 6?

While both Dormer and Jones hinted at tough times for their members of House Tyrell thanks to their capture at the hands of the High Sparrow, our favorite answer from Natalie was her perception of whether or not Margaery really wants to ever sit on the Iron Throne. Here is her quote, per The Hollywood Reporter:

“Margaery is trying to be Cersei, she’s trying to be the mother of the king … I genuinely don’t think Margaery wants to be on the Iron Throne; it’s a dangerous place to be. She wants to be the power behind it … it’s safer to be the power behind the Throne than be on the Throne.”

The funny thing with Margaery is that while she and Tywin Lannister were never exactly in agreement, she probably has more in common with him philosophically than any other character on the show. He understood completely just what the true purpose of being an adviser to the Throne is, especially in the event you have someone in power like a Tommen, who really is not old enough to make informed decisions for himself.

This panel news comes not long after there was some surprising “Game of Thrones” news unveiled about the Red Priestess. You can read more about that over at the link here.
