‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 17, episode 4 preview: Carisi and caseworker problems

Law & Order: SVU logoWednesday night’s new episode of “Law & Order: SVU” is entitled “Institutional Fail” for a reason. This is a story that will be in part about the rampant problems in Child Services, and how they are whether intentionally or unintentionally turning a blind eye to the people who need them the most.

Before we get to the sneak peek below, let’s set up the case: An emaciated child is found by the SVU, and it turns out that this child should have been checked up on and wasn’t. This brings us to Keith below, a man who has been overworked so much by the system that he has a hard time remembering which families he has visited and which ones he hasn’t.

Why is he so worn out? Is he being forced to take on too much, or is there another factor that is causing him to drop the ball at his job? This is something that the SVU has to figure out? While we are no expert when it comes to Child Services or government programs, we imagine that above all else, there are two things that you need: Passion for the job, and also enough people to make sure that it is done properly. It is possible that in this case, they could have neither in the positions that matter.

The true test in this episode is when we meet Whoopi Goldberg’s character in this episode, a woman in a higher position who faces some harsh allegations when it comes to specific paperwork. It is her appearance that NBC is using to hype up this episode.
