‘The Leftovers’ season 2 spoilers: Early problems for Nora Durst, Kevin Garvey
Season 2 of “The Leftovers” is going to premiere a week from Sunday, and we can tell you that the premiere episode is going to revolve heavily around the arrival of many of our characters in Miracle, Texas. This is a newly-renamed community known for not have any Departures, and understandably this makes it an attractive place for many and a hard place to even get into.
When the characters make it there, what they are going to find out is that things are not exactly going to be that much better than they were on the outside. Specifically, a quick friendship with the neighboring Murphy family may prove to be some trouble for Kevin. You can read a synopsis for the premiere here; some of what we are talking about specifically in this paragraph will take place in the second episode (airing October 11) entitled “A Matter of Geography.” You can read more about that below:
“Kevin, Nora and Jill try to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of the Mapleton riots, but problems from the past keep resurfacing. The new Garvey clan finds a fresh start in the safety of Miracle. Nora makes an impulsive choice, while Kevin gets entangled in the Murphy family’s problems.”
We have said for months is that we would like to see at least a slight change of tone on this show, one that is going to make this show a little more optimistic than the often-dreary landscape that we saw the first time around on HBO. However, we don’t really get the sense that this is going to happen. This is just a ruthless world, one where everyone is looking for an answer as to how they are supposed to live. Unfortunately, no one is really finding any solace.
