‘Chicago PD’ season 3 spoilers: What will Sophia Bush’s Lindsay have to do to return?

The third season of “Chicago PD” is premiering on NBC come Wednesday, September 30, and based on some of what we have heard so far, it is looking like the show is not going to invest too much time or energy in keeping Lindsay away from the force for long.

With that being said, what exactly is Sophia Bush’s character going to have to do in order to actually get back on the force? We know that she will be motivated after falling back into some of her old ways with Bunny courtesy of the capture of Halstead, someone she cares about and someone she realizes is going to need help after being captured. However, it’s not going to be as easy as just coming back and getting a badge. As executive producer Matt Olmstead teases to TVLine, there will be many stages that she has to go through to be completely cleared:

“Voight has some really strict conditions she has to meet … He wants her to meet with Dr. Charles, so she goes there and tries to work him and deflect — ‘Just tell my boss we met’ – but he’s a little smarter than that. She then comes back later and kind of opens up a bit to him. They talk about her dad a little.”

By the time we make it to the end of the first few episodes, we’ll get a better sense of what Lindsay’s new role within the team is going to be, and if she can stay away from Bunny completely. As for Dr. Charles, all we’ll say for now is that Lindsay is not the only primary character we are going to see him helping out in the early going this season.
