‘Chicago PD’ season 3 spoilers: Is Lindsay’s mother out to damage Voight’s career?

Chicago PDThanks to all of the lead-up to the upcoming September 30 premiere of “Chicago PD,” we’ve had a chance to learn a great deal about the story that is going to be coming our way. Specifically, we’ve found out about how Lindsay is going to start off the season in a terrible place after falling back into her old ways with her mother Bunny, and how it may take the capture of her former lover Halstead for her to start to come to her senses and want to put on her badge again.

In many ways Voight has been a positive figure and even a father-of-sorts to Sophia Bush’s character, so could there be some jealousy or anger on Bunny’s part if he manages to bring her back into the fold? Is Bunny going to suddenly miss the company? These are issues that could be explored in the second episode of season 3 entitled “Natural Born Storyteller,” which airs on NBC Wednesday, October 7. The network has not released too much in the way of information on this particular episode just yet, but the synopsis below offers up what we know so far:

“While pursuing a gangbanger, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Roman (Brian Geraghty) come across the body of an eight-year-old boy who was reported missing. Intelligence launches an investigation to find the killer and Antonio (Jon Seda) and Lindsay (Sophia Bush) question a prime suspect. Meanwhile, Burgess confides in Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) about Roman’s suspicious behavior and Bunny (guest star Markie Post) heads to the Ivory Tower with a statement that could be detrimental to Voight’s (Jason Beghe) career.”

Could a Bunny versus Voight story be something that ends up being a big theme this season? We’re not going too far with that just yet, mostly because it is still to be determined what Bunny’s motivations are with her statement. Maybe the damage to Voight is intentional, or it is an incidental consequence to what her true intentions are.

Since this episode is still a ways away, it is hard to offer up too many specifics on it right now. However, you can head over here to get a sneak peek of the premiere episode!
