MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 5, episode 5 preview: Tamara’s engagement party turmoil

There are so many potentially terrible / awkward things that could come out of next week’s new episode of “Awkward,” with one of the biggest ones being simply that Tamara is getting engaged to someone she doesn’t even really know.

Why is she continuing to hold onto this engagement? The easiest response to that is that it all comes back to attention. Tamara loves it, and more often than not, she really doesn’t put a whole lot of stock in where she gets it from. So long as she feels like the spotlight has been put on her, she’s happy, and getting a fancy engagement party is a nice way to get that.

However, it’s fair to say that this party will turn into a disaster for so many reasons, starting with the idea that it is putting Jake and Matty in the same room again, and that has been no easy task ever since the two hashed things out over what happened with Jake and Gabby. Oh, and did we mention Gabby is also there? She’s going to drink away her sorrows, and maybe reveal to Jenna something about Matty that could lead to the two getting closer to being back together.

This episode is going to be the halfway point in the first half of season 5, so if there is one thing that we can tell you, it’s that this story needs to propel things forward as we get closer to graduation. The caps will be thrown in the air by the end of episode ten, and then after that, we’re just waiting for the show to flash-forward a year in the second half of the season.
