‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: Of Monsters and Men to make appearance

LogoFor the most part, “Game of Thrones” is not a show that really embraces or celebrates stunt casting. It is for that reason that you do have to take notice when they do anything that is considered even somewhat out of the ordinary.

This is where we are right now with Of Monsters and Men. As first confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, the Icelandic rock group is going to make some sort of cameo appearance over the course of the sixth season, and they are far from the only rock group / musician to make an appearance on the HBO hit. Back in season 4 band Sugar Ros made a brief appearance, and we’ve seen Coldplay’s Will Champion and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol turn up, as well.

So what is with European rock stars and the show? It seems almost like a fun little Easter egg at this point, and it works out mostly because of the fact that they never really detract or distract from the show. They are merely just a part of the overall dressing that is this show, and it is something fun for either fans of the artist or just Easter egg hunters to look for.

There is no word at the moment as to where in particular Of Monsters and Men will turn up. We do know that “Game of Thrones” does have some affection for Iceland, given that producers have used the country as a filming location for several of their seasons, most notably back when Jon Snow was traveling Beyond the Wall.
