‘Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance’ spotlight: Will Tasha Fox make it to the end this time?
Tasha Fox is one of those people who, going into “Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance,” you thought was going to be a pretty sure thing to be on the season. She was immensely popular her first time around, she’s a fighter, and she’s a longtime fan of the show. These are the sorts of things that people want to see!
She’s got most of the tools you want from a player, and only a few weaknesses that do not bear fruit as well until you get a little bit later in the season. We’ve got our full analysis on her game below as a part of our spotlight series; at the bottom, be sure to make your projection in the attached poll!
History lesson – 6th place, “Survivor: Cagayan.” In the early going, her most notable moment was fighting back at Garrett when he tried to stop all game conversations … one of the moves that probably led to him being voted off. She was also passionate and always competitive, and her three straight immunity wins after the merge proved that she can conquer almost anything put in front of her. She’s well-suited for this game physically and she also has the intelligence to do well in the mental competitions. Unfortunately for her, she just couldn’t get on the right side of the numbers after the merge that season, and she was eventually taken out by Tony and his alliance when she didn’t have the necklace. She is also the only person that season to vote for Woo to win, which we mostly point this out because Woo is also a part of this season. While they are starting on separate tribes, could they work together this time around if they make it far enough? It’s worth considering.
What worked last time – She’s an immunity beast, and she also is a pretty good social player. She’ll inspire you to do better and work really hard to keep an alliance strong. Also, she showed with voting out J’Tia that while she cares about in-game friendships, she is willing to make tough moves that could better her tribe. More than any one individual characteristic, though, what she really showed is that she will never stop fighting in this game.
What needs to change – Tasha is a complicated case when talking about serious game mistakes. Did she play a little too hard after the merge? It would be easy to say that, but we don’t think that was her issue because she had to play hard. We just think that she wasn’t making the right arguments to the right people to flip and help her. We feel like more than changing her actions, she needs to change her perception. She comes across as a leader and a tough competitor, which makes her a great pre-merge player but not someone you want to go near the end with in fear that she’ll steamroll you and win the game.
Potential obstacles – A huge issue for all “Cagayan” alum is that there are four of them on the season, which is 20% of the cast. There’s going to be a fear of a pre-game alliance, though it really does not seem like anyone is that interested in working with Kass in actuality. Tasha’s also going to have to slow down her own game at times to let some other people shoot themselves in the foot; she was never really in a position to relax the first time, so it will be interesting to see what happens if she finds herself in such a place this season.
Prediction – As we’ve said, there is zero reason to target Tasha pre-merge. She’s just too valuable as a strong, smart, hard-working member of the tribe. However, after the merge is a different story. We just cannot see people wanting to go to the end with her, and thanks to that we wouldn’t be shocked if she left the game in a relatively similar spot to where she did the first time.
