‘Bones’ season 11 spoilers: Betty White signs on for guest spot!
This summer has been the summer of unexpected “Bones” news. We didn’t expect there to be a crossover with “Sleepy Hollow” in a billion years, we didn’t expect Booth to go missing in the premiere, and we certainly did not expect to see Betty White coming up as one of the most notable guest stars of the upcoming 11th season.
White’s casting was first reported by TVLine, and here is what we can tell you about it at the moment. She is going to play the part of Dr. Beth Mayer, who is by most estimations one of the best forensic anthropologists of the past 50 years. Strangely, though, she is going to just be a squintern at the Jeffersonian, but she and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) are going to clash when it comes to a case involving fantasy football of all things … which turns out to be an area of expertise for Dr. Mayer.
White is coming off of a lengthy run on TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland,” and she has really been on a huge career comeback for several years now that started from a “Saturday Night Live” hosting campaign and also a Super Bowl commercial. The last time we saw her play a similar role was in the season 2 premiere of “Community,” where she was an anthropology instructor and ended up shooting Jeff Winger with a tranquilizer dart.
New episodes of “Bones” are going to premiere on October 1, but you will not see White on the show more than likely until near the end of the month. We’re going to have some further news related to the show as they come out, so be on the lookout!
