‘Suits’ season 5 spoilers: How does Harvey Specter move forward?
We have spent a good bit of time over the past couple of years talking about the fallout on “Suits” to Mike Ross getting arrested, but for the most part, we have talked about this solely through his lens. Obviously, learning who ratted him out is going to be a huge component of the final six episodes of season 5, as is getting to see whether or not this severs his relationship with Rachel completely.
So what about Harvey? Mike’s resignation and then arrest could place him in a very complicated position. His move to exit the firm was selfless, and was made to protect his family at the firm after he realized that he may not have done enough to protect his own family so many years ago. Could he come back to try to help Mike out? For now, creator Aaron Korsh is not saying, but he made it clear in a TV Guide interview that everyone from Harvey to Jessica to Louis will be impacted in one way or another by what happened with Mike getting put into handcuffs:
“I like the thought that they’re both doing this for their family. There were so many themes running in the last episode. There were a lot of faith things, believing that things will be OK. The last six [episodes] are really gonna be about the fallout or blowback of this event happening and Mike getting arrested. This is a major turning point. Certainly Harvey quit, but Mike getting arrested affects the trajectory of what he was going to do. Does he try to come back? Everything is going to be affected by this thing that no one saw coming. We will find out what will happen to all six of them.”
The thing with Harvey is that he’s sure to be dragged into this situation one way or another, and how he handles it could in many ways put him on a certain track for his future. Regardless of what happens, we still feel like him resigning from the firm is important, being that it shows that the job is not the most important thing in his heart. If he is to ever get Donna or prove that he is a caring person, this is the way for him to do so.
