‘Doctor Who’ season 9 spoilers: See Jenna Coleman, Peter Capaldi in new premiere photos!

The ninth-season premiere of “Doctor Who” is going to be here before long, and we are entering this article now with one primary purpose in mind: Talking extensively about photos! After all, there is probably so much more material to mine out of these than you would even think upon first glance.

The photo above of course puts Peter Capaldi’s character of The Doctor front and center, and he does not appear to be particularly thrilled. Should you read a whole lot into that expression? We’d argue “no,” if for no other reason than that Twelve can get annoyed by things a little bit easier than Elevent could. It appears almost like the Tardis has landed in some sort of a marsh, and who knows what adventure awaits him and Clara? (For the record, this image is from the September 19 premiere.)

The first photo of Jenna Coleman is below, and who knew that Clara was going to be going for more of the take-no-prisoners leather-jacket look? Maybe we’re getting an edgier Clara this season? If nothing else, we’re at least getting a more determined, adventurous version of the character than ever before? It feels almost like she is at some sort of MI6 computer situation room more so than out doing anything with The Doctor.

The new episodes ahead are going to explore more of what makes these characters so interesting, and then also what sort of adventures that they could really throw themselves into. In the end, let’s just hope for something that is spirited, engaging, and above all a thrill to watch.
