‘Devious Maids’ season 3: Where ratings, renewal odds stand going into finale
Will “Devious Maids” be renewed by Lifetime for a fourth season? We feel like some networks are pretty easy to predict, but unfortunately for fans of this series, Lifetime is not one of them. This is a network that canceled and un-canceled “Drop Dead Diva,” got rid of a beloved “Witches of East End,” and then managed to keep around “UnREAL” despite it having some pretty low ratings.
If there is one thing at the moment, though, that this show can hang its hat on, it is the fact that it is at least staying very consistent. In looking at the ratings for the majority of the season, almost every episode has fallen within the 0.4-0.5 range in the key 18-49 demographic. While that is not amazing, and the show is down at by a pretty decent margin compared to season 2, it is not declining throughout the season. As a matter of fact, Monday night’s episode scored a season high in total viewers. That’s impressive given that we’re near the end of the season.
We do think that it benefits Lifetime to renew the show, if for no other reason than that it will look good to show this sign of devotion to the fans that you are ready and willing to stand behind them and the show for at least one more year.
Also, we have a feeling that it is going to be hard to tie everything up in a neat little bow this summer. We need at least a season 4 to get closer to a natural finish line … though of course we’d also want a season 5 if the show remains enjoyable.
