‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3 spoilers: Who is holding out hope for Simmons?

While the third season of “Agents of SHIELD” is going to give you answers at some point pretty early on when it comes to the status of a certain Simmons, unfortunately some of the characters will have been waiting for a long time when the series picks up to see just what transpired with her.

How is this possible? Well, it’s thanks so something as simple as a time jump between seasons, which Chloe Bennet explains in further details to Entertainment Weekly:

“There’s been such a big time gap, so one of the main focuses is that some of the characters have almost — not given up, but have been like, ‘We’ve tried everything.’ Fitz is that one person who’s like, ‘Not everything!’”

Given the nature of what Simmons was sucked into in the finale, there is of course going to be plenty of questions regarding whether or not she is somehow different from the character we remember. Hopefully, she will at least have the same soul and the same heart, if for no other reason than that we do not want to see anything terrible happen to her that causes her and Fitz to drift even further apart after all of this time. We’re still ‘shipping them, after all!

There is of course another reason far beyond a potential romance that SHIELD will want to have her back: She is essential to the team, and with Ward’s rise to power and all of the changes that have happened to Skye over the past year, they need her more than ever.
