‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 notes: Winter chatter; Danai Gurira’s new charity contest

twdThe season 6 premiere of “The Walking Dead” is coming on AMC starting on Sunday, October 11, and today, we’ve got a couple of stories from various parts of the internet worth checking out … starting with an interesting question: Is the show ever going to try to replicate some of the winter scenes from the comics?

Given that the series tends to film in the warmer months and going year-round is a production challenge, this is something that is an enormous production challenge. These concerns are in many ways echoed by showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who says the following to Entertainment Weekly:

“It’s a hard one and one that we struggle with … In the comics, the seasons have been represented — not all the time, but there’s been some really notable moments in the snow and even in autumn really. That’s a challenge for us, we’re thinking about it and figuring it out.”

Don’t give up hope on this just yet if you want to see it … but for now, we’re saying that it is unlikely we’ll see real snow in Georgia anytime soon.

Support Danai Gurira’s charity – Want to spend some time with the woman behind Michonne in Atlanta, and also at the season 6 premiere in New York City? There is a content that is being held via Crowdrise, one where you can enter to win both of these things, along with a variety of other great prizes. All proceeds of the contest are going to Gurira’s charity Almasi Arts Alliance, which you can read more about below (the description comes from the Crowdrise page):

“Danai Gurira co-founded Almasi Arts Alliance to help professionalize the Dramatic Arts industry in Zimbabwe through education, facilitation and collaboration with professional American Dramatic Artists and Artistic Institutions.”

Who wouldn’t want to give this a shot? Even if you don’t win, you can rest assured that your money is going to a tremendous cause.
