‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: Andrew Lincoln on surprising premiere episode

Rick -Over the years (and especially the past two) “The Walking Dead” has delivered some high-octane season premieres. During these episodes we’ve seen everything from character deaths to surprising twists and turns, and it is very well possible that there could be more of this when season 6 starts airing on AMC a little bit later this fall.

Andrew Lincoln at this point is someone who knows better than anyone where the bodies are (metaphorically) buried. Sure, it is his job to promote the show, but we do not think he is providing mere lip-service when he tells Entertainment Weekly the following about what is a surprising premiere episode:

“I think that episode 1 is something that people are not going to expect … I certainly didn’t when I read it. And when we filmed it, it just grew and grew and it got deeper and deeper. And I think there are a couple of episodes this season that are certainly some of the best episodes I’ve read, maybe in a couple of seasons.”

One of the challenges for Lincoln’s Rick Grimes almost right away in this episode is going to be trying to figure out the right way to tow the line between being a leader to the people of Alexandria, and being a complete war-torn killing machine that terrifies them. An alternative is present now in Morgan (Lennie James), and depending on what transpires, this could serve as a reasonable alternative to many of the people in the town.

The new season premieres on AMC come Sunday, October 11, and we imagine that we’ll be talking plenty more about the show soon. Head over here to get some more of the latest updates. Also, you can sign up here to get some more TV news on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: AMC.)
