‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: Expect Alexandria flashbacks

twdWhen Rick Grimes and the rest of his group arrived in Alexandria on “The Walking Dead,” what he witnessed was something rare: One of the few functioning communities left in the zombie apocalypse. Sure, there were problems with the town still, including how ill-equipped and oblivious they were to the dangers of the outside world, but this was not a Terminus filled with cannibals or a Woodbury ruled by an insane person like the Governor. This was different … even if there are signs of it falling apart at the seams now.

While much of the sixth season will of course push the story ahead, there are also going to be some moments where you take somewhat of a step back. This is something confirmed by executive producer Scott M. Gimple, who had the following to say about this move back into the past in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“It’s earlier in Alexandria [that we will focus on], but not the beginning of Alexandria. It’s more character-based rather than the background of the place. There are some stories filled in regards to the comic that we haven’t even gotten to yet—sort of prequeling some comic stories that are coming up, which I’m very excited about.”

It also looks based on what Gimple and Greg Nicotero said that we will also get a chance to see more of how Lennie transformed into the uber-pacifist that he is when we see him once again in season 5 after a significant amount of time away. This perspective will cause him to clash with Rick and others, and be one of many driving forces for this season.
