‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: First look at Merritt Wever!

When “The Walking Dead” premieres on AMC in October, there will be a variety of new and old faces that you will see in Alexandria. Obviously, the return of Morgan changes things dramatically for Rick Grimes and possibly the rest of his group, but what do we make about some other people in the town?

On the surface, it is hard to imagine that Dr. Denise Cloyd will be much of a game-changer on the show. She is a character from the comics, and while she is gifted at what she does, this is not a character who will presumably come in and change everyone’s lives forever. She does have a few memorable moments in the comic series, but it is not entirely clear if they will surface at all on the show. The only thing we can offer up for now is a first-look photo, which comes to us courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

“The Walking Dead” does continue to cast some of the best actors in the business for their major roles, given that they have landed “Nurse Jackie” alum Merritt Wever for this part. She can play funny very well, but she also has this down-to-earth sensibility that will work well in this world over run with walkers trying to eat her brain.

You will get a chance to see just what Denise brings to the table starting either on or after Sunday, October 11 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time; there are once again going to be 16 episodes in the season, though there is no guarantee we will stay in Alexandria that long.
