‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: Are we meeting a minister?

At the end of “The Big Bang Theory” season 8, we were left with what was a pretty sizable cliffhanger for the characters of Leonard and Penny. Were they going to get married in Las Vegas, even after he admitted to some indiscretions while away on his boat research trip? The timing seems pretty rotten, but at the same time they were already on their way to Las Vegas to make the wedding happen.

If there is going to be a way to stop that progress, it may not happen until after the couple gets to Sin City. According to TVLine, the show is casting a fiftysomething actor to play a minister in the ninth-season premiere, which to us is a pretty clear indicator that they get to the chapel. as to whether or not they get married after that … it’s a pretty good question.

Personally, we feel like the right way to do this ceremony is to give them something that is quirky and different from what Howard and Bernadette did. You want some romance, and above all else, you want Sheldon and company there. These people are in many ways family, and it feels odd to completely isolate Leonard and Penny from the group for this. Let’s just hope that it comes before the end of season 9, mostly because setting it up for a finale seems far too obvious.

As for the premiere, get ready for more of “The Big Bang Theory” when it premieres on Monday, September 21. Like with last season, it will start off the season on a special night.
