‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: How is Amy moving forward?

There is definitely trouble in paradise at the moment for Amy and Sheldon on “The Big Bang Theory.” As a matter of fact, paradise may even be over for the two. After feeling consistently disrespected and ignored by her boyfriend after several years, the season 8 finale featured Mayim Bialik’s character decided to take some time away from him.

Based on what we are hearing right now, it does not look as though this is something that the show is going to shy away from at all entering the upcoming ninth season. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steve Molaro lays the ground work for where Amy will be on the show moving forward, and also whether or not there could be a new love interest in her future:

“Right now, she really wants to take a step back and think about where she is, where they are and how she wants to move forward in her life … I don’t think she’s necessarily in a rush to find another man, but I don’t think she’s ruling it out either.”

The hope here is that distance makes the heart grow fonder, and for someone like Sheldon it may be a good thing for him to experience heartbreak to realize how much he should cherish something that means a lot to him. We know from seeing the tease at the end of the season that he does love Amy very much … but he will definitely need to do a better job showing it if he ever wants to get a ring on her finger.
