‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: Who is not returning in permanent capacity?

Gotham -We really cannot say that the following bit of news surprises us at all. Given the mass amount of promotions and hires that we have seen for “Gotham” and its upcoming second season, it was fairly easy to assume that there would be at least a few people not coming back for more.

Now, we have a little more information on just who some of these people are going to be. According to a new report from TVLine, Victoria Cartagena nor Andrew Stewart-Jones (otherwise known as Montoya and Allen) are not going to be back as series regulars. It is possible that they still make appearances on the show, but we’re not that shocked to hear this judging from how little we could see them doing early on. One of Montoya’s most interesting storylines was her romantic history with Barbara Keen, and given that she has completely lost her mind and is now in Arkham Asylum (at least seemingly), there’s no real need to continue along that story for the time being.

“Gotham” of course has plenty of other important characters to take up screen time. After all, this season is promising more of Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Michael Chiklis’ character, Lucius Fox, Bruce Wayne, Alfred, Selina Kyle, Harvey Dent, Edward Nygman, Jerome a.k.a. possibly the Joker, Tigress, Barbara, Leslie Thompkins, and a variety of other characters. They may actually need the full 22 episodes in order to fit everything in here. (You can see some of the official series-regular promotions over at this link.)

The new season of “Gotham” starts on Fox come Monday, September 21 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. We’ll certainly have more news before then.
