‘Doctor Who’ season 9 ‘prequel scene’ coming to theaters alongside season 8 episodes

Doctor Who -Just in case you really have a craving to see more of “Doctor Who” in a variety of different forms (and really… who doesn’t want that?), you may find this story right up your alley.

Today, Fathom Events confirmed that on September 16 and 17 in around 700 or so theaters across North America, they will be showing off not only the two-part season 8 finale of “Doctor Who” (“Dark Water” and “Death in Heaven”) in 3D, but they will also be allowing you to see a “prequel scene” for season 9 along with an interview with Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi moderated by Wil Wheaton. That’s a lot of “Doctor Who” for one showing, and we presume the bonus goodies are to make up for the fact that there is no new season 9 episode being featured on the big screen this time around.

This is the third straight year that the BBC series is having some sort of theatrical event, and it should be pretty clear that there is a reason why this is happening: It makes a ton of money for them, it’s and easy way to get everyone exited for the season and it’s a great event for the fans to connect. There’s really no downside at all to doing something like this, and it’s a great way to create new experiences for the Whovians around the world, because you know they appreciate it.

The ninth season of”Doctor Who” is premiering this September and while the majority of details are rather hush-hush, we do know that there are going to be a variety of different two-part installments, plus the return of Michelle Gomez (who is a key force in both of the aforementioned season 8 episodes).
