‘MasterChef’ season 7 renewal official; Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, Christina Tosi returning
We are not entirely sure that there was ever really any doubt in regards to the future of “MasterChef,” but at the same time isn’t it nice to get some official confirmation today? Fox has confirmed that their culinary competition has been renewed for a seventh season.
To go along with this, we also know (as per the title) that Christina Tosi, Graham Elliot, and Gordon Ramsay will be returning as judges. This is not too big of a surprise at all, given that the show has only swapped judges once throughout its run, and that was when Tosi stepped in after Joe Bastianich departed. We do feel that Tosi has done a good job in the role. Our main criticism of all the judges is that we feel like we hear the same thing from them every season, regardless of who is in the role. (It’s because every episode follows almost the same pattern.)
“MasterChef” remains at this point one of the most lucrative cooking competitions in all of TV, and we feel the primary reason for that is because it has such an inspirational quality to it. These are not professional chefs, and rather are home cooks who we are told have lives relatively similar to our own. “Top Chef” and “Hell’s Kitchen” are still out there for folks with different tastes.
The next season of “MasterChef” should air next summer. There’s also the “MasterChef Junior” competition, which premieres on Fox this fall.
