‘UnREAL’ episode 8 preview: A proposal could determine Rachel’s future

UnREAL -Next week’s all-new episode of “UnREAL” is looking like a significant game-changer, and it feels almost silly to say that given what we saw tonight. How do you top an hour of TV that features Rachel fabricating a suicide note for the sake of helping out Mary’s sister and saving the production a homicide investigation? It’s insane, but the show makes it happen week after week.

Next week, what we are going to see that is particularly intriguing is just what Rachel is looking to do in order to push her career as a producer to the next level. She may have a chance to earn a promotion for herself on an “Everlasting” spin-off, but there is one huge contingency here: She needs to deliver a proposal at the end of the season. Everyone wants to see an engagement happen at home, even if it is completely crazy in theory. As Adam points out, he has only known these women for a few weeks! It’s far too early to rush towards the altar … and that’s why you got to remember that proposals on reality TV mean far less than in real life.

Now, here’s where things get extra complicated: There is some sort of connection between Adam and Rachel. What is it, exactly? They cuddled at the end of tonight’s episode, and there is definitely a feeling like he is genuinely more interested in her than any other person that he is actually supposed to be dating. Yet, she has played fairly hard-to-get, which may be in a way because of her interest in Jeremy, who is definitely hard to get because he is with someone else. Don’t you think that some of these feelings are going to come out in the open at some point? It would be a bummer if they didn’t.

We are getting close to the end of the season, so one way or another, know this: Decisions are going to need to be made on all fronts.
