‘Arrow,’ ‘True Blood’ alum Kevin Alejandro signs up for Fox’s ‘Lucifer’

Kevin Alejandro is an actor who has always been very good in almost everything that he has taken part in. Yet, at the same time he has not received the big series break many may have felt he deserved several years ago.

Hopefully, he is going to get a chance to shine on Fox’s upcoming midseason entry “Lucifer,” which is literally a show about the title character working with the police to take down the bad guys. It is based on the Vertigo comic series, and that source material gives us hope that this will be streets ahead of where the majority of these sorts of crime shows with odd premises are at the moment.

Alejandro, who recently played Jesus on “True Blood” and was Sebastian Blood on “Arrow,” is going to play the part here of Dan, a homicide detective who is not entirely thrilled at the notion of Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) working alongside his wife (Lauren German, formerly of “Chicago Fire”) and being in any vicinity of his daughter. This role was originally played by Nicholas Gonzales, and the change was first reported by Deadline.

Recastings are fairly common at this stage in the process. Nobody in TV wants to have them happen after viewers have already started to see the character on the screen (unless the actor is not working out for some reason), and it is after the pilot stage that many of these changes happen to be made, before anyone really has a chance to make some adjustments.
