‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: The premiere title revealed!

Once -Once Upon a Time” season 5 has not even started yet, and the show is already doing a few things to change up the mold. Typically with this series, it is executive producer Adam Horowitz who comes out and shares some of the first news in regards to episode titles. However, that is not what happened this time!

According to a post on Instagram via composer Mark Isham, the name of the first episode back come September 28 is “The Dark Swan.” We don’t really think that bears a whole lot of explanation, no? Creators Edward Kitsis and Horowitz penned the episode (as they tend to do with premieres, finales, and other big installments), and Ron Underwood is the director. Underwood directed several season 4 episodes, most notable “White Out” and “Mother,” and has been around the show from the very beginning. In other words, they are making sure that the folks involved in the fifth season in the early going are people familiar with what makes it a success.

For anyone who watched season 4 of the series, it is hard to act even remotely surprised about this title. The season ended with the Dark One’s dagger more or less proclaiming that Emma was going to be the new one to hold its power, and given her capacity for great evil that we have heard so much about, this could be very interesting.

However, there are also going to be some other key components to the fifth season, as the journey to track down Merlin to resolve the Dark One crisis will lead to us getting to meet many other interesting characters, including King Arthur and Guinevere. The presence of the latter is one of the reasons behind Lancelot’s apparent return to the series.
