‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: Are we poised for a big Melisandre season?

Melisandre -If you told us that you were still in mourning following the end of “Game of Thrones” season 5, we definitely would understand. The closing minutes were among the most devastating of any show on the air, and we still have no idea how all of this is going to be coming to a close.

Obviously, the real question (which is one we addressed at length over the weekend) is whether or not Jon Snow is actually dead. We cannot really clarify anything when it comes to this, but one of the big theories out there is that Melisandre could be the one to revive him. She clearly felt a connection to him, and based on what Carice van Houten said in an interview with the New York Daily News, there is quite a bit in terms of what to expect from at least her character:

“I was doing ADR the other day and then the producer was there and he was saying something that I’ve heard before, which is quite spectacular, for next year, which I really can’t say anything about.”

In general, we are very curious to see what the Red Woman’s mental state is now going to be. This is someone who put a whole lot of stock in what visions she supposedly received from the Lord of Light, and that suggested that Stannis Baratheon was destined to be king. She convinced him to murder his own daughter in sacrifice! This singular act was the beginning of the end for Stannis’ reign, as many of his army members chose to abandon his cause, and then the rest of his army was wiped out before Brienne seemingly put a sword in him.

Now, Melisandre has some explaining to do back at Castle Black…
