‘Girl Meets World’ episode 8 reaction: What did you make of Angela’s return?

Girl Meets World -Friday night’s new episode of “Girl Meets World” was an important one for a variety of important reasons, but superficially, the biggest one was getting a chance to see Shawn’s high school girlfriend Angela back on board the series. This was a chance to see where she ended up, and also what would be coming in the future for her and Shawn … if anything.

What ended up coming out of this in the end was a chance for the two to develop some sort of closure for everyone to see. Through her, Shawn learned that she has moved on in a major way, and is married and has an entirely new life. We understand some longtime fans being sad by this, but we feel like it’s a good thing that the story is resolved one way or another. She wanted to see him just for validation that she would be a good mother, and he told her exactly what she needed in that moment.

Through Angela, Shawn got a little bit of closure, and then got a chance to really start to analyze his own future with Maya’s mother Katy. He has already forged a bond with Riley’s best friend, taking her out to buy clothes early in the episode. Could he also forge one with her? She asked him out, and through a surprise appearance by Chet (in ghost form), he decided to accept!

This was such a bittersweet way to end the episode. We’re so thrilled that Shawn gets a chance to move forward and with Maya’s mother; of course, it was also a tear-jerking reminder of the character’s own history, even if it was nice to see Chet turn up again in some form.
