‘American Idol’ winner Nick Fradiani performs at National Memorial Day Concert

Nick -While there is not necessarily a whole lot of television for you to watch over Memorial Day Weekend (there never really is), there was at least a showcase on some PBS stations last night courtesy of the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington DC. This event does tend to be a showcase for many “American Idol” winners after they come off the show, and it was this time around for Nick Fradiani.

In the video below (via Mjsbigblog), you can see Nick perform a strong rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” a song that he probably needs to get used to performing throughout the months ahead. This is a gig that many “American Idol” stars are called on for, mostly because in order to win that show, you really need the sort of huge voice that is called on for this song.

Nick is looking already to have a very busy summer ahead of him, touring with the other top five contestants this season. He is also going to have a debut album coming at some point in the future under the Big Machine label, which was one of the reasons why Scott Borchetta was mentoring the contestants all season long. Hopefully, this does yield some slightly better results than we’ve seen from the show the past two years, where neither Candice Glover nor Caleb Johnson had a whole lot of support from their label after releasing a debut album.

We imagine that we will have at least a few more highlights of Nick both before and during the tour, so be on the lookout for some of those in the weeks ahead!
