‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12, ‘Scandal’ season 5 work officially begins in writers rooms

More scoop -Here’s the thing when it comes to some of your favorite TV shows: They truly are in some ways year-round events. While they may end in May and not start again in September, there is often work that happens with them more or less throughout the entire hiatus.

For some other evidence on that, take a look at what Shonda Rhimes posted on Twitter below. The writers rooms for all three shows she executive-produces in “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and “How to Get Away with Murder” are all in session, even though each show still has a good four more months to go before they premiere. This is going to be a busier year than ever for Rhimes coming up. She has the two shows that she of course runs (Pete Nowalk is the main creative force behind the Viola Davis drama), and she is also executive-producing the midseason entry “The Catch.” That almost guarantees that she will have three shows on the air around the same time throughout the entire season.

As for where each one of these individual shows go, we know better than to say anything is definite right now. Rhimes is known for being able to adapt quickly. For example, the decision to kill off Derek on “Grey’s Anatomy” was not something that seemed possible early on last season, and the “Scandal” finale underwent a number of changes at the last minute. Many things are often fluid.

One thing that we can say for now is that we’re excited to see what happens next on every show … even though we are waiting for a while.
