‘American Idol’ loses executive producer Per Blankens before season 15

American Idol -There is yet again another changing of the guard on “American Idol” as we prepare for the fifteenth and final season. So what are we going to be seeing this time that will stand out? Think along the lines of a drastic showrunner change.

According to a new report from TheWrap, Per Blankens is going to be stepping down as the chief person responsible for the success of the show after being the main captain over the past couple of seasons. He did do a few good things for the show, such as trying to focus on contestant narratives and at least keeping a consistent judging panel. However, his tenure was also marred by terrible song list, and frequent cutaways during performances … just in case anyone out there cares about what Jennifer Lopez thinks in the middle of a performance.

For those already curious as to who the replacement is going to be, what we know is that Trish Kinane of FremantleMedia North America is going to be the new person in charge of the series. Maybe the show will eventually hire someone else to help (we’d like it to be Nigel Lythgoe for old time’s sake), we will have to wait and see just what Fox decides here when it comes to giving the series a worthy send-off.

At the moment, we know the show is never going to be the force that it once was in the ratings; we just want to see it leave with at least a little bit of its dignity intact.
