‘Elementary’ season 4: Premiere date speculation, more for Jonny Lee Miller series

ElementaryTonight, the case was closed, at least temporarily, on “Elementary.” We are using this term metaphorically, so rest assured that we are not actually talking about any event in particular that took place on the CBS series tonight.

Instead, what we are doing now is looking towards what will be the all-important fourth season of the show. Even with lower ratings this year, we never had any real fear or doubt that the show was going anywhere. CBS TV owns it, and they are therefore very much invested in getting it the episodes that it needs to make it to syndication. Also, It is a show that can repeat well since it is for the most part very procedural, and we feel like there is even still potential left in it to be so much greater than it even is at the moment.

If there is one major critique that we can offer that should be changed in the fourth season, it is more Sherlock mythology. We know that Natalie Dormer is a busy woman, but why not introduce some other characters and spins on classic cases from the source material? We understand some temptation to steer clear of “Sherlock,” but there are still so many opportunities to innovative, and other than Kitty we haven’t seen to much of that this season.

Will season 4 be the last? We really do not know, but we do hope that it will at least give us more of a reason to be shocked, thrilled, and talking about the show again with friends. It still needs for more episodes to feel almost like finales. You will have to wait most likely until late October / early November to see it on the air; CBS will be airing NFL football until then, similar to last year.
