‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12: Sarah Drew on what is next for April, Jackson

What's next? -While “Grey’s Anatomy” season 11 did end with a wedding as Catherine Avery and Richard Webber, but given that this is a Shonda Rhimes series, not every moment in the episode could be a peaceful walk through the meadow. The hard times came in the form of April and Jackson looking at the potential end of their relationship, and the fact that while she did everything in her power to heal herself after they lost a child, she did not put any work into healing her relationship. The two have grown distant, and he has now told her that if she goes away again, he may not be waiting for her when she gets back.

How is April going to handle that? This is one of the closest things that we have now to a cliffhanger, since this is not going to be an easy thing to resolve. All we can do for now is present the quote below from Sarah Drew to Entertainment Weekly, where she lays out at present just what the stakes truly are:

“She’s left with an impossible decision. She has found this thing that has healed her from the trauma of losing their child. But if she continues to pursue that thing, she loses the love of her life. There’s no winning in this situation for her. If she does decide to stay, that could build resentment for her and the relationship could backfire anyway. It’s a really tough situation.”

The new season will begin filming this fall, and we’re not giving up on April and Jackson just yet. The thing that you are meant to remember here is that this is no perfect couple, and in many ways there are no perfect couples on this show. One way or another, there will be resentment; it is going to really be all about how they decide to handle this.
