‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 22 review: Death and one awkward wedding

Arrow -Tonight, “Arrow” had a little bit of everything. There was a wedding, a death, and one of the most epic fights that we have ever seen over the course of the entire season.

Also, it had the return of Roy Harper, for those of you who have been missing seeing Colton Haynes on the show. Thea found out where he is staying and decided to pay him a visit, which was a way for the two of them to have a little time to reconnect. While at times we wondered if they would just stay there and be together, Thea realized that this was not in the cards for her as Roy left in the middle of the night, giving her a note telling her that she deserves a life where she is not just in hiding, one where she can be herself independent of others.

Now, we move back to Nanda Parbat, where most of our characters headed after Malcolm Merlyn, with a little bit of help from Tatsu of all people, convinced them that Oliver Queen was still in fact Oliver Queen. While there, they fought to ensure that the bioweapon would not be launched … only to learn that this was really just all a test of who the league could really trust. In this test, we lost Maseo, a character who we really came to love. Having Tatsu be the one to release him from his pain was particularly heartbreaking.

Yet, this was somehow not even the most heartbreaking moment of the night, as Malcolm seemingly sold out Oliver and his plans before Al Sah-Him locked away his friends while exposing them to the bioweapon. We’re left with Oliver and Nyssa engaging in the worst wedding ceremony ever while everyone else appears to be dead inside the chamber … with “appears to be” serving as the operating word. Sure, we figure they will survive, but how do they ever forgive a guy like Oliver after all of this?

“This Is Your Sword” was definitely powerful and emotional; at the same time time, it does have us concerned as for the future of Team Arrow will into the future. Grade: B.
