‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 finale: First (rather somber) photo revealed

The season 6 finale of “The Vampire Diaries” is just a little over a week away, and despite us knowing that Nina Dobrev is leaving the show, The CW is still being extremely coy when it comes to how much of this story they want to give away. For more evidence of that, you don’t have to look any further than the attached photo.

In some ways, this image feels almost like it could be the cast photo for a season without Dobrev, though Michael Trevino is present in it and we know already that he is leaving as a regular after the finale, as well. Everyone certainly has the brooding look that you typically see in these photos. Meanwhile, it appears that it is Damon who is about to say something to them all.

So where is Dobrev’s Elena here? More than likely, she is preparing to do whatever it is that she needs to in order to properly say goodbye to Mystic Falls. We still hope and feel like it will be a mostly happy ending for her. While we would love to see her character again on the show in the future, it would behoove the series for the most part to craft an ending for here that will allow fans for a chance at satisfaction. You can always bring her back for a cameo in the series finale, but there is no guarantee that it will happen depending on where Nina is in her life at that point.
